Green Knights Move to 5-1 in Florida With Sweep of Greenville

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College improved to 5-1 this season following a doubleheader sweep of Greenville College in a pair of hard-fought games at Lake Myrtle Park. The Green Knights swept the Panthers 3-0 and 5-2.

St. Norbert got a combined shutout in the opener from Nate Schadrie and Jake McMahon. Schadrie went the first 6 1/3 innings and allowed six hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Greenville loaded the bases with one out in the seventh inning but McMahon came on to strike out the two hitters he faced to end the game.

The Green Knights scored their first run in the third inning on a Tyler Banovich RBI single to score Spencer Larson. Tyler Brown then scored on a Jason Malkowski sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Brandon Kozinski squeezed in Brown in the sixth inning for the game's final run.

Banovich, Brown and Ray McDonald all had two hits apiece, with Brown doubling twice and McDonald once.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert scored twice on three hits and one error in the second inning. Kozinski's bunt single was thrown away allowing Brown and Troy Rottier to score. After Greenville scored once in the fifth inning, St. Norbert scored three runs on three hits and two errors in the seventh. Banovich had an RBI double and Rottier an RBI single in the frame.

Brendan Hermann earned the win in his first collegiate start, going 6 2/3 innings and scattering 10 hits with no walks and two strikeouts.

Rottier was 3-for-3, while Banovich, Brown and Derek Klegin all had two hits apiece for the Green Knights.
