St. Norbert Splits Against Nationally Ranked Foes

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - St. Norbert College split its pair of games against nationally ranked teams from the New Jersey Athletic Conference, falling to No. 9-ranked Rowan University 6-4 before bouncing back to rout No. 12-ranked Kean University 12-0 in five innings.

The Green Knights (2-4) wasted little time taking control against Kean (5-3), scoring eight runs on five hits in the top of the first inning. An error and a walk set up Brooke Wilson's RBI single. Leigh Grall's sacrifice bunt was then thrown away to broke home another run. Jessica DeMeuse followed with an RBI single, and Amy McBride drove in two runs on a single for a 6-0 lead. Morgan Schillinger added an RBI groundout and Tayler Long capped off the uprising with a run-scoring single.

St. Norbert added a run in the second inning when Codi Jenshak added a sacrifice fly. The Green Knights pushed across three more runs in the fourth on a RBI doubles by Grall and DeMeuse and another sacrifice fly from Jenshak.

Long, Grall, DeMeuse and McBride all had two hits in the game, with Grall scoring three runs and hitting two doubles.

Haley Grunwald earned the win, allowing just three hits in the first three innings, walking one and striking out two.

St. Norbert and unbeaten Rowan (15-0) were tied 3-3 through five innings before the Profs pulled away with three runs in the sixth inning on a Shilah Snead three-run home run.

The Green Knights scored three runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Long and a two-run single from Wilson.

Wilson was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the game. Morgan Rusch took the loss, allowing 11 hits, four earned runs, one walk and five strikeouts.
