DE PERE - St. Norbert College dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader to UW-Stevens Point, losing by scores of 8-7 and 5-1 at Miron Construction Field at the Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (10-16) almost rallied from an 8-0 deficit in the opener. Stevens Point scored four runs in the first inning and two runs in each of the second and third innings to take the big lead early.

St. Norbert got a run back in the third inning on a Codi Jenshak RBI single. Leigh Grall's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning cut the deficit to 8-2. Jenshak got things started in the fifth inning with a run-scoring double. Emily Laufer then scored a run on an RBI single, and two more runs scored on the play following an error to make the score 8-6.

MacKenzie Hazen scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh inning to get the Green Knights to within a run at 8-7, but the potential tying run was stranded at second base to end the game.

St. Norbert had 11 hits, with Laufer going 3-for-3 and Samantha Gross 3-for-4. Jenshak was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Morgan Rusch took the loss, allowing six runs and seven hits in 1 2/3 innings pitched.

In the nightcap, the Pointers got off to a quick start again, taking a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Stevens Point added to its lead with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. St. Norbert scored its only run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Grall.

Jenshak was 3-for-3 in Game 2 for the Green Knights, who had seven hits. Rusch took the complete-game loss, allowing 11 hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
