Green Knights Swept at No. 13 UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER - St. Norbert College was swept in a non-conference doubleheader by nationally ranked UW-Whitewater by scores of 9-3 and 9-1 at van Steenderen Field.

The Green Knights (11-19) drew first blood in the opener, with Jessica DeMeuse singling home Tayler Long in the first inning. The 13th-ranked Warhawks (26-6) answered with four runs in their half of the second for a 4-1 edge.

St. Norbert pulled to within 4-3 with two runs in the third inning. Long and Gina Mastrodomenico scored on a Whitewater error. The Warhawks pulled away with three runs in the fourth inning and single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

DeMeuse was 2-for-3 to lead the Green Knights, who had six hits. Morgan Rusch took the complete-game loss, allowing 11 hits.

In the nightcap, Whitewater scored four runs in the first inning and added two runs in the second and three runs in the third to take control. St. Norbert scored its lone run in the fourth inning, when Morgan Schillinger doubled in Leigh Grall.

St. Norbert had three hits in Game 2. Haley Grunwald took the complete-game loss, allowing 14 hits.
