Fast Start Lifts St. Norbert Past Illinois Tech

CHICAGO - St. Norbert College scored five first-half goals en route to a 6-2 win over Illinois Institute of Technology in a non-conference game at Stuart Field.

St. Norbert (3-1-1) wasted little time taking the lead, getting a goal from Alex Schumacher just 7 minutes 46 seconds into the game. Sam Lamers then registered a natural hat trick, getting his three goals within a stretch of 9:10. Lamers scored at 25:29, 32:03 and 35:09 to lift his season goal total to five.

Marco Delbecchi then scored his first goal of the season at 42:32 for a 5-0 edge.

Joe Fabich scored at 51:36 for his first goal of the season. The Scarlet Hawks countered with goals at 54:44 and 68:47 to close out the scoring.

Tyler Kassube had two assists for St. Norbert, while Schumacher, Delbecchi, Joe Spera, Deshaun Dickson, Andy Frank and Jon Gregory each had an assist.

St. Norbert and Illinois Tech were tied in shots at 19-19, but the Green Knights held a commanding 14-6 edge in the decisive first half. Eddie Sanchez made three saves in the first half for the Green Knights, while Sam Lisheron made six saves in the second half.
