DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior Katie Vanden Avond moved to within one goal of matching the NCAA Division III career goals record during the Green Knights' 7-0 win over Cornell College in a Midwest Conference game at Schneider Stadium.

Vanden Avond poured in four goals to run her career total to 123, one goal short of the Division III standard set by Luther College's Katie Pettigrew from 2001-04. The four-goal game, which boosted her season total to 32, was the sixth time this season and tenth time in her career she has reached that mark.

Monica Stephans opened up the scoring when Vanden Avond fed her on a give-and-go at the 12 minutes 18 seconds mark. Vanden Avond then scored off an assist from Sadie Jung just 1:31 later. Stephans scored again off a give-and-go with Shannon Jung at 15:38. Vanden Avond then put the Green Knights ahead 4-0 on a give-and-go finish at the 17-minute mark.

St. Norbert (9-4-1, 6-1 MWC) wouldn't score again until early in the second half. Vanden Avond registered her third goal at 51:30 off a rebound finish with Stephans. She was then wrestled down in the penalty area and converted on the subsequent penalty kick at 53:33. Dana Schwab scored at 80:33 off an assist from Abby Dalla Santa to close out the scoring.

The Green Knights outshot the Rams 22-6. Maddie Plinska made four saves for the Green Knights, while Tal Neilly made five saves for Cornell.
