Green Knights Drop Exhibition to UW-Green Bay

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College got an early game in before the regular season with a 75-38 exhibition loss to perennial NCAA Division I power UW-Green Bay at Kress Events Center.

The Phoenix, which have won 17 consecutive Horizon League titles and have played in 13 NCAA Tournaments since 1998, jumped out to a 27-6 lead after the first quarter and led 47-19 at halftime. Green Bay already had an exhibition game in already this season, beating Division II Minnesota-Duluth 80-25 this past Saturday.

The Green Knights hung around in the second half, being outscored 13-10 in the third quarter and 15-9 in the fourth quarter.

St. Norbert shot 30.2 percent from the floor, making 16 of 53 field-goal attempts. Stephanie Weigman was the lone Green Knight to reach double figures with 12 points. Brianna Byrne and Regan Carmichael both scored seven points apiece. Carmichael and Weigman both had seven rebounds.

Green Bay shot 42.9 percent (27-for-63) from the floor. Mehryn Kraker led the Phoenix with 16 points. Madison Wolf added 12 points and Allie LeClaire 10 points.

The game featured a matchup of two coaches with over 600 career wins. St. Norbert's Connie Tilley enters her 39th season with the Green Knights with 631 wins, while Green Bay's Kevin Borseth has 607 wins entering his 29th season overall.
