Second Period Dooms St. Norbert in Loss at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College gave up three goals in the first 9:24 of the second period and never recovered in a 5-3 loss to the College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Mars Lakeview Arena.

St. Norbert (1-3, 1-2 NCHA) took a 1-0 lead when Reaghan Chadwick scored a power-play goal at the 12:48 mark of the first period. The Saints forged a 1-1 tie after 20 minutes following Sierra Hanowski's goal at 14:32 of the period.

St. Scholastica (3-2, 2-1 NCHA) took control in the second period with goals by Katie Josephson at 2:42, Kennedy Houge at 4:10 and Abby Sawyer at 9:24. The Green Knights pulled to within 4-2 at the 11:46 mark with a 4-on-4 goal by Emily Chandler.

Josephson scored a power-play goal at 5:44 of the third period to give the Saints a 5-2 lead. Lauren Roethlisbeger scored a power-play goal at 10:34 to close out the scoring.

Chadwick, Chandler and Roethlisbeger all had assists to give them two-point games.

St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 40-23. Brianna Kelly made 18 saves for the Green Knights, while Lindsey Hartfiel had 37 stops for the Saints.

St. Norbert was 2-for-7 on the power play and St. Scholastica was 1-for-6.
