St. Norbert to Face UW-Whitewater Saturday in NCAA Division III Playoffs

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face UW-Whitewater in the first round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs.

The Green Knights (10-0) will face the two-time defending national champion Warhawks (9-1) at Noon Saturday at Perkins Stadium in Whitewater.

St. Norbert is making its 12th overall NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance -- tied for 12th most all-time - and 11th in the last 17 years. The Green Knights are 1-11 all-time in the playoffs, and have won 16 Midwest Conference football titles since joining the league for football in 1984. St. Norbert's last NCAA Playoff appearance came in 2013 at UW-Whitewater, trailing the eventual national champion Warhawks 17-7 in the third quarter before losing 31-7.

Whitewater, runner-up to UW-Oshkosh this season in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference race, is making its 13th overall NCAA Division III Playoffs appearance and is 43-6 all-time in the tournament. Whitewater won national championships in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.

The Green Knights and Warhawks have met 30 times in the series, which dates back to 1932. Whitewater leads the all-time series 18-9-3.
