Bunk, Laterza, McCarty Lead St. Norbert on All-Midwest Conference Team

DE PERE - St. Norbert College had 15 players named to the Midwest Conference All-North Division team announced today by the league office.

Senior offensive lineman Jacob Bunk was named Midwest Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year, while senior defensive back Frank Laterza was named Midwest Conference Defensive Skill Player of the Year. Head coach Dan McCarty also claimed North Division Coach of the Year honors.

Bunk and Laterza were first-team All-North Division selections, along with senior offensive linemen Matt Doherty and Jack Rasmussen, sophomore running back Elijah Fort, junior wide receiver Zach Reeves, sophomore fullback Grant Murray, freshman kicker Spenser Thompson-Meyers, senior defensive lineman Jerry Blake, senior linebacker R.J. Callow and sophomore linebacker Tommy Gonzales.

Earning second-team All-MWC North Division honors were junior offensive lineman Bobby Jaacks, sophomore quarterback Jack Becker, senior defensive lineman Jacob Finegan and junior defensive back Ryan Grandlic.

Bunk, a St. Francis native and a St. Francis High School graduate, anchored the offensive line from his left tackle position. The Green Knights averaged 243.4 yards rushing per game this season with 30 rushing touchdowns.

Laterza, a Barrington Hills, Ill., native and a St. Viator High School graduate, leads the Green Knights in interceptions with six and has a total of 13 passes defended. His interceptions total is currently 10th in Division III.

McCarty led the Green Knights to a 10-0 regular season in his first season at the helm, the school's first unbeaten regular season since 2007. St. Norbert claimed its 16th Midwest Conference title with a 16-7 win over Monmouth College in the MWC title game this past Saturday.

Rasmussen, a Galena, Ill., native and Galena High School graduate, played right guard and Doherty, a Riverside, Ill., native and Fenwick High School graduate, played right tackle. The Green Knights led the conference in rushing offense and rank 26th in Division III in that category.

Fort, a Waukesha native and Waukesha West High School graduate, leads the Green Knights in rushing with 719 yards on 132 carries and 16 touchdowns. Fort has 18 touchdowns on the season to rank 18th in Division III in scoring at 10.8 points per game.

Reeves, a Laona native and Laona High School graduate, leads St. Norbert in receiving with 34 receptions for 484 yards and one touchdown.

Murray, an Argonne native and Crandon High School graduate, caught three passes this season for 18 yards and one touchdown. He also held the offense to a 5.3 yards per carry rushing average while playing fullback.

Thompson-Meyers, a San Ramon, Calif., native and California High School graduate, has made 10 of 15 field-goal attempts this season as well as 36 of 40 point-after attempts. His 27 touchbacks on kickoffs led the Midwest Conference by 11.

Blake, an Orland Park, Ill., native and Sandburg High School graduate, has 40 tackles this season with 6 1/2 tackles-for-loss. He also has one fumble recovery and one pass defended.

Callow, a Phillips native and Phillips High School graduate, leads the Green Knights in tackles with 75. He has 6 1/2 tackles for loss, 4 1/2 quarterback sacks and two interceptions.

Gonzales, a Chicago native and Niles Notre Dame High School graduate, was sixth on the team in tackles with 41. He had a team-high 9 1/2 tackles-for-loss and added 4 1/2 quarterback sacks with one interception.

Jaacks, a Prospect Heights, Ill., native and Hersey High School graduate, manned the center position and helped the Green Knights average 5.3 yards per rushing attempt.

Becker, a Hingham, Mass., native and Thayer Academy graduate, completed 119 of 185 passes for 1,478 yards with 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 418 yards on 78 attempts and five touchdowns.

Finegan, an Ishpeming, Mich., native and Republic-Michigamme High School graduate, finished with 27 tackles this season. He had 3 1/2 tackles-for-loss and two quarterback sacks. He also blocked two placement kicks.

Grandlic, a Glenbeulah native and Fond du Lac St. Mary's Springs High School graduate, is third on the team in tackles with 58. He's also second on the team with five interceptions and has three other passes defended.
