St. Norbert Shoots Down UW-Eau Claire

DE PERE - St. Norbert College shot the ball at a blistering pace to claim an 89-60 non-conference win over UW-Eau Claire at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights (6-1) opened the game making 33 of its first 46 field-goal attempts (71.7 percent) to build an 87-46 lead with 3:26 remaining. St. Norbert finished the game shooting 63.0 percent (34-for-54) from the floor.

St. Norbert went on an 14-4 run to take a 16-9 lead 6 1/2 minutes into the game. A conventional three-point play by Terrence Garner, a 3-pointer by Ben Bobinski and a pair of 3-pointers by Taylor Penn fueled the run.

Bobinski then scored the Green Knights' next eight points as St. Norbert led 28-17 with 7:44 left in the half. St. Norbert led by as much as 16 points in the first half before settling on a 39-28 lead at intermission.

St. Norbert then went on a 17-5 run over the first five minutes of the second half to lead 56-33 and had complete control of the game at that point. Eau Claire (5-4) didn't get closer than 21 points the rest of the way.

The Green Knights finished with five players in double figures. Bobinski led the way with 21 points, while Garner added 15 points and eight assists. Penn, D.J. DeValk and Mitchell Reinthaler all added 13 points for St. Norbert, which shot 12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from beyond the three-point arc.

Eau Claire shot 42 percent (21-for-50) from the floor. Jared Schneidermann led Eau Claire with 13 points and Jack Martinek added 12 points.
