Green Knights Advance to MWC Championship Match

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's volleyball team advanced to the Midwest Conference Tournament Championship game with a 3-0 victory over Monmouth College at Schuldes Sports Center.

St. Norbert, which improved to 29-3, will host Beloit College for an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament Saturday Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.

The Green Knights registered 32 kills in 122 attempts en route to a 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 victory. Trailing 24-14 in the third set, Monmouth rallied for seven unanswered points to make it 24-21, but failed to get any closer. Monmouth finished the year 12-18.

Joanna Mamayek led St. Norbert with nine kills in 23 attempts, while Katie Casebolt added seven in 32 attempts.

Laura Ayello finished with 27 assists for St. Norbert, which hit .164 for the match. Kim Angst recorded 15 of the Green Knights' 46 digs.

Samantha Robinson had seven kills for Monmouth which hit .048 for the match. Crystal Meyers finished with 20 digs for the Fighting Scots.
