Green Knights Drop Overtime Affair to Adrian

DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't hold off Adrian College in overtime and dropped a 3-2 decision in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (12-7, 7-5) forged a 2-2 tie late in the third period when Kylie Gazzolo scored with 3:48 remaining in regulation time.

Adrian went on a major power play 55 seconds into overtime when St. Norbert's Jessica Sherman was assessed a kicking penalty. Play went to 4-on-4 36 seconds later when Adrian's Logan Taylor was called for slashing, but 10 seconds after that minor expired the Bulldogs' Kaylyn Schroka scored a power-play goal for the game-winner at 3:51.

St. Norbert converted a power-play opportunity in the first period when Emily Chandler scored at the 16:30 mark for a 1-0 lead after the first period. The Green Knights outshot the Bulldogs 10-2 in the first 20 minutes.

Adrian answered with a pair of power-play goals in the second period. Kristin Lewicki scored at 3:46 and Schroka tallied her first of two goals on a 5-on-3 chance at 6:03.

Chandler assisted on Gazzolo's goal to finish with a two-point game.

Adrian out shot St. Norbert 27-22. The Bulldogs were 3-for-8 on the power play and the Green Knights were 1-for-4.

Leigh Grall made 24 saves for the Green Knights and Jade Walsh turned away 20 shots for Adrian.
