Coghlin Records 500th Career Win in Shutout of Northland

ASHLAND - St. Norbert College coach Tim Coghlin tallied his 500th career win as the Green Knights recorded a 3-0 win over Northland College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Bay Area Civic Center.

Coghlin earned his 500th win in his 680th career game, improving his career record to 500-130-50. It marked the third-fastest game total to 500 wins in NCAA hockey history, only behind UMass-Dartmouth's John Rolli (658 games) and Bemidji State's Bob Peters (677 games). St. Norbert improved to 18-2-1 overall (14-2 NCHA), extending Coghlin's NCAA Division III-record streak of consecutive seasons with at least 18 wins to 20.

The win also moved the Green Knights into first place overall in the NCHA standings, one point ahead of Adrian College with four games remaining for each team.

St. Norbert scored all the goals it would need in the first period, when it took a 1-0 lead at the 4:35 mark on a Storm Wahlrab marker, his fourth of the season.

The Green Knights would add the two final goals in the second period. Riley Christensen posted his 10th goal of the season at 3:46, followed by Roman Uchyn recording a power-play marker for his 11th goal o fthe year at 12:34.

Christensen added an assist for a two-point game. Erik Cooper and Tyler Andrews each had two assists. Cooper extended his consecutive game scoring streak to 13 and has scored in 20 of 21 games this season.

St. Norbert outshot Northland 29-20. Tony Kujava made all 20 stops for his third shutout of the season and the eighth of his career. A.J. Smith made 26 saves for the Lumberjacks (7-13-1, 6-10).

St. Norbert was 1-for-6 on the power play while Northland was 0-for-5.
