St. Norbert Posts Season-High Goal Total in Finlandia Win

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored a season-high six goals as the Green Knights went on to claim a 6-2 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (13-8-1, 8-6-1 NCHA) had scored four goals in a game this season five times, but had not reached the five-goal plateau until their win over the Lions. St. Norbert scored five goals in the first two periods.

Lauren Roethlisberger scored first for St. Norbert, netting her team-high 10th goal of the season with a goal at 6:16. Abbie Canton followed with her second goal of the year by scoring at the 13:44 mark, while Emily Chandler finished her sixth goal of the season at 18:50 for a 3-0 St. Norbert lead after one period.

Rachael Goodrow scored for the second time this season with a goal at 4:32 of the second period. Jessica Schlaff followed with a power-play marker at 6:21 for a 5-0 lead. Finlandia answered with a goal by Natasha Kern at 13:15 of the second period.

Each team scored a goal in the third period. Emily Bondrager put St. Norbert ahead 6-1 with a goal at 15:52 of the third period, her second goal of the season. Kimberly Harter closed out the scoring with a goal for the Lions with 2:07 remaining.

Chandler added an assist for a two-point game, while Selena Stromer and Kylie Gazzolo had two assists apiece.

St. Norbert outshot Finlandia 58-13. Brianna Kelly made 11 saves for the Green Knights, while Taylor Gustafson made 52 stops for the Lions.

Each team committed just one minor penalty. St. Norbert was 1-for-1 on the power play and Finlandia was 0-for-1.
