Green Knights Drop Tough Dual at Concordia-Wisconsin

JACKSON - St. Norbert College held a 2-1 lead after doubles play but couldn't hold on and dropped a 5-4 non-conference dual match to Concordia University Wisconsin at Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness Club.

The Green Knights (0-2) won a pair of hard-fought doubles matches to earn their 2-1 lead. Kyle Battle and Zach Simonet defeated Ceejay Schaffner and Robert Spiering 9-7 at No. 2 doubles. Kahlo Vue and Robert Quinlan then claimed a 9-7 win over Jonathan Schotte and Jonah Fowle at No. 3 doubles.

St. Norbert could only get two of the six singles points. Quinlan topped Trevor Budewitz 7-5, 6-1 at No. 4 singles, while Simonet beat Schaffner 4-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Alex Vandenberg extended Concordia's Brad Guendel to three sets at No. 2 singles, but dropped a 1-6, 6-1, 10-5 decision.

St. Norbert will face Milwaukee School of Engineering at 1 p.m. Saturday in the second leg of its weekend trip.
