St. Norbert Defeats MSOE For First Win of Season

GLENDALE - St. Norbert College picked up its first win of the 2016 season with a 6-3 triumph over Milwaukee School of Engineering in a non-conference match at Elite Sports Club-North Shore.
The Green Knights (1-2) earned a pair of points in doubles play. Ben Vande Zande and Alex Vandenberg defeated the Raiders' Mason Sauder and David Gorodetsky at No. 1 by an 8-1 score. Joe Oleniczak and Sam Gullick topped MSOE's Ryan Runke and Kyle Fassbender 8-3 at No. 3.
Vande Zande also earned a hard-fought win over Gorodetsky at No. 1 singles, claiming a 7-6, 6-3 triumph. Robert Quinlan earned a 7-6, 6-1 win over Sauder at No. 4 singles.
Zach Simonet blanked Runke 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles and Oleniczak needed three sets to top Fassbender 6-3, 3-6, 10-3 at No. 6 singles.
St. Norbert is idle until Feb. 27 when it travels to Janesville for a pair of non-conference duals against Lakeland College and Simpson College.
