St. Norbert Subdued by Pioneers

DE PERE - St. Norbert College was swept in a Midwest Conference doubleheader by Carroll University by scores of 11-4 and 11-0 at Miron Construction Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights scored a single run in the second inning of the opener on an RBI single by Gina Mastrodomenico to cut their deficit to 3-1. St. Norbert scored again in the fifth inning on a Tia Danforth RBI groundout to bring St. Norbert within 7-2.

St. Norbert got to within 7-4 in the sixth inning when Amy McBride scored on a passed ball and Megan Yeo singled to drive in another run. But the Pioneers scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away.

Mastrodomenico was 3-for-4 to lead the Green Knights, who had eight hits. Lexi LeCalsey took the loss, allowing 10 hits and seven runs in five innings pitched.

Carroll's Hannah Miller shutout the Green Knights on four hits in the nightcap. Francesca Marrese took the loss, allowing 11 hits and 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings pitched.
