Green Knights Pick Up Two Wins Against Muskies

DE PERE - St. Norbert College earned two wins despite playing just one full game in a non-conference matchup against Lakeland College at Larry Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex. The Green Knights won the regularly scheduled game 10-0 after completing a suspended game from April 20 with a 13-4 triumph.

It took St. Norbert (13-10) a while to get going in the full game, not scoring until the fourth inning when Robbie Dombrowski drew a bases-loaded walk. The Green Knights added two runs in the fifth inning on a Hunter Larson RBI single and a Tyler Brown sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.

The Green Knights added three runs in the sixth inning on a Derek Klegin sacrifice fly and another Larson RBI single. Tyler Banovich then drove in Larson with a triple for a 6-0 advantage. St. Norbert ended the game with a four-run seventh inning. Klegin had an RBI single while Larson walked with the bases loaded.

Sam Neville pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits with no walks and six strikeouts. St. Norbert had seven hits, with Larson going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three runs batted in.

In the suspended game that saw the last two innings finished after getting seven innings in on the original game date, St. Norbert erased a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth inning. Jason Malkowski had a two-run double in the fourth inning, while Sean Grant had a two-run double and Malkowski a two-run single in the fifth inning.

St. Norbert, which had 10 stolen bases in the game, had eight hits. Malkowski was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and five runs batted in.

Aaron Hammond earned the win in relief, allowing three hits and no runs with two walks and three strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings pitched.
