Cooper Named to CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District Team

DE PERE - St. Norbert College men's hockey player Erik Cooper has been named to the CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District VI team.

Cooper, an Anchorage, Alaska, native, owns a 3.73 grade point average in accounting. Cooper, a first-team All-America selection and the 2016 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Year, finished with 13 goals and 23 assists for 36 points in 31 games. Cooper, who scored in a school-record 19 consecutive games this season, led the Green Knights to the NCAA Division III national championship game, with the Green Knights finishing 25-4-2. He was also a finalist for the 2016 Sid Watson Award, given to the national player of the year.

Cooper is a member of the St. Norbert Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a team captain his junior and senior years. A seven-time Dean's List student, Cooper was also a three-time Academic All-NCHA honoree.

The at-large team encompasses student-athletes from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

To be eligible for national or district selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after eight All-District teams of 10 student-athletes each are picked from eight geographic regions nationally.
