Ake Named to CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District Team

DE PERE - St. Norbert College women's tennis player Katherine Ake has been named to the CoSIDA At-Large Academic All-District VI team.

Ake, a junior and a Neenah native, holds a 3.98 grade point average in biology. Ake helped the Green Knights to a runner-up finish in the Midwest Conference at 9-1. Ake finished the 2015-16 season with a 13-3 singles record and was 10-8 in doubles play. Ake holds a career record of 70-14 in singles play and 68-16 in doubles action. Ake was the MWC champion at No. 2 doubles as a sophomore and was the No. 3 doubles champion and No. 4 singles runner-up as a freshman. She owns the St. Norbert record for singles wins in a season with 30.

Ake is a five-time Dean's List student and has been selected Academic All-Midwest Conference two times.

The at-large team encompasses student-athletes from the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

To be eligible for national or district selection, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.0, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. The Academic All-America team is selected after eight All-District teams of 10 student-athletes each are picked from eight geographic regions nationally.
