WAVERLY, Iowa - St. Norbert College junior Ryan Grandlic finished in 10th place in the 400-meter dash and senior Brad Boockmeier placed 15th in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Wartburg College's Walston-Hoover Stadium.

Grandlic turned in a time of 47.96 seconds in his preliminary heat, which was 0.23 seconds shy of clinching a spot in Saturday's championship race. It was Grandlic's first appearance in the NCAA Outdoor 400-meter dash.

Boockmeier finished 15th in the decathlon. Boockmeier opened the day with 758 points in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.78 seconds. He then had a discus throw of 125 feet 8 inches for 630 points, followed by a pole vault of 11-9 3/4 for 509 points. Boockmeier closed out the decathlon with a javelin throw of 113-1 for 363 points and a 1,500-meter meter run of 5:20.99 for 445 points.

Grandlic is part of the lone remaining St. Norbert entry into this year's NCAA Championship - the 4x400-meter relay. Jon Gregory, Austin Livingston, Grandlic and Tyler Lewis are the No. 3 seeding in the championship race, set for 4:50 p.m. Saturday.
