LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Monica Stephans connected on the game-winning goal in overtime to push St. Norbert College past Lake Forest College 2-1 in the Midwest Conference opener for both teams at Farwell Field.

Stephans, who scored her fourth game-winning goal of the season, took a pass from Ellie Lochner at the top of the box and fired a shot to the left corner of the net for the win at the 97 minutes 51 seconds mark.

The goal gave St. Norbert its first overtime win since a 2-1 win over Cardinal Stritch University on Sept. 5, 2012 at Schneider Stadium in De Pere.

St. Norbert (4-1, 1-0 MWC) battled its rival to a scoreless first half, and then scored the first goal early in the second half. Lochner netted an unassisted goal at the 55:47 mark to give the Green Knights a 1-0 lead.

The marker would hold up until late in regulation time, when Lake Forest (3-3, 0-1) netted an equalizer when Kayla Wuest put home a corner kick from Jo Hendriksen at 84:56.

St. Norbert would then get all three shots taken in overtime. Lake Forest had a 14-10 shots edge for the game and a 5-0 nod in corner kicks.

Maddie Plinska - who turned away a penalty kick chance - made four saves in goal for the Green Knights, while Rachel Tenuta made two stops for the Foresters.
