Late Rally Not Enough For Green Knights

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored three goals in the last 1 minute 6 seconds of the game but it wasn't enough as the Green Knights lost 5-4 to St. Mary's University in a non-conference game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights trailed 4-1 after St. Mary's scored an empty-net goal by Jane Hannula with 1:33 remaining. St. Norbert would charge back, scoring two extra-attacker goals to draw within 4-3. Lauren Michael scored with 1:06 remaining and Kelli Sorge followed with a goal with 46 seconds to go to cut the deficit to one.

St. Mary's scored another empty-net goal with 29 seconds left on a score by Jamie Henderson. Reaghan Chadwick scored a power-play goal with 15 seconds left, but the Green Knights couldn't net the equalizer.

Chadwick scored a power-play goal at 13:23 of the second period to give the Green Knights a 1-0 lead but the Cardinals' Jesse Cwik scored at the 15:48 mark to knot the score at 1-1 after 40 minutes.

St. Mary's Anya Hafiz scored at the 10:50 mark of the third period to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead and set up the game's hectic final two minutes.

Jillian Kosteck had two assists to join Chadwick with multi-point games.

St. Norbert outshot St. Mary's 36-24. Leigh Grall made 19 saves for the Green Knights while Marah Shields made 32 stops for the Cardinals.

St. Norbert was 2-for-4 on the power play while St. Mary's was 1-for-4.
