St. Norbert Continues Shutout Skein to Open 2016-17

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College posted its third consecutive shutout to open the 2016-17 season with a 7-0 win over Lake Forest College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Green Knights (3-0, 3-0 NCHA) also opened the 2012-13 season with three consecutive shutouts, beating Concordia-Wisconsin and UW-Stevens Point twice to begin the season.
St. Norbert opened the scoring with a pair of shorthanded goals to take command. Noah Nelson scored at 8:04 of the first period and Tanner Froese followed at 10:45 for a 2-0 lead. Brad Pung followed with an extra-attacker goal at 16:27 in a delayed-penalty situation. The Green Knights doubled up by scoring on the ensuing power play, with Riley Christensen scoring at 17:40 for a 4-0 lead after the first 20 minutes.
Roman Uchyn scored on the power play at 12:38 for the second period's only goal. Tyler Andrews scored at 4:23 of the third period, while Dominick Sacco's goal at 12:00 of the frame closed out the scoring.
Froese had two assists for a three-point game. Pung and Sacco also registered assists to finish with two-point games.
St. Norbert outshot Lake Forest 40-25. T.J. Black made 25 saves to register the shutout for St. Norbert. Billy Cooper made eight saves in 17:40 of work for Lake Forest, while George Argiropoulos made 25 stops in 42:40 of relief.
The Green Knights were 2-for-7 on the power play, while Lake Forest was 0-for-6.
