St. Norbert Bouyed By Quick Start at Illinois College

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College scored the first 10 points of the game en route to its 66th consecutive win against a Midwest Conference opponent in a 63-52 win over Illinois College at Sherman Gym.

The Green Knights (3-1, 2-0 MWC) took a 10-0 lead five minutes into the game behind baskets from four different players. Tim Marshall scored the first hoop, followed by 3-pointers from Ben Bobinski and D.J. DeValk. Mitchell Reinthaler then closed out the run with a basket.

The Blueboys got back to within two points at 14-12 but St. Norbert gradually increased its lead before settling on a 30-23 halftime advantage.

St. Norbert never led by less than five points in the second half and had its largest lead at 14 points at 51-37 with 9:13 remaining.

The Green Knights shot 47.9 percent from the floor, making 23 of 48 field-goal attempts. DeValk led St. Norbert with 26 points, while Bobinski and Marshall added 10 points apiece.

Illinois College shot 33.3 percent (17-for-51) from the floor. Tim Parks came off the bench to lead the Blueboys with 11 points, while Mitchell Patterson added 10 points.
