St. Norbert Remains Unbeaten in MWC Women's Race

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College women's basketball team moved to 6-0 in the Midwest Conference with a 68-51 win over Illinois College at Schuldes Sports Center. St. Norbert is 9-3 overall, while Illinois College fell to 7-5, 3-2 in the MWC.

St. Norbert broke open a close game with a 13-2 run over the final five minutes of the first half. St. Norbert led 27-23 before getting six points from Amy Brunner and five from Denise Heuser during the run. The Green Knights took a 40-25 lead at intermission.

Illinois College would work the deficit down to seven at 45-38 with 13:07 left to play on a Brittany Parsons layup. St. Norbert answered on its next possession on a Linsey Propson 3-pointer. The Lady Blues got to within 50-41 with 11 minutes to play, but St. Norbert went on a quick 6-0 mini-run over the next four minutes. A pair of Victoria Le Fevre free throws, a layup by Bri Hauge and a layup by Heuser sparked the run. Illinois College would get no closer than 12 points the rest of the game.

St. Norbert was led by Heuser's 14 points. The Green Knights got 28 points off the bench, including 13 by Brunner and 11 by Hauge. Brunner also pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. St. Norbert had a 39-34 rebounding advantage to help offset 24 turnovers. The Green Knights shot 45.5 percent from the floor, making 25 of 55 shots.

Illinois College was led by Lauren Napier and Rachel Macon, who each had 11 points. The Lady Blues shot just 34 percent from the floor, making 18 of 53 shots.
