St. Norbert Falls at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College fell to UW-Eau Claire in a non-conference matchup of nationally ranked foes by a 66-57 score at Zorn Arena.
St. Norbert entered the game ranked No. 17 by D3hoops.com, while UW-Eau Claire was ranked 25th. The host Blugolds improved to 3-0, while the Green Knights dropped to 2-1.
The Green Knights trailed 26-24 inside one minute left in the first half but Eau Claire's Missy Fremstad drained a 3-pointer with 2 seconds left before halftime for a 29-24 lead at intermission.
St. Norbert tied the game at 31-31 on a Denise Heuser 3-pointer early in the second half but the Blugolds went on an 8-2 run to take a 39-33 lead. Eau Claire pushed its lead out to 50-37 with 10:33 left to play on a Heather Witt 3-pointer before St. Norbert mounted a rally.
The Green Knights went on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to get within 52-50, but would get no closer than three points the rest of the way. St. Norbert trailed 58-55 with 2:28 to play but Eau Claire scored on its next two possessions to put the game away.
St. Norbert shot 40.9 percent from the floor, making 18 of 44 attempts despite shooting 28.6 percent in the first half. Heuser led the Green Knights with 14 points, while Cortney Biese added 12 points and Stefanie Bunday 10.
Eau Claire shot 47.2 percent from the floor, making 25 of 53 shots. Witt and Heidi Arciszewski each scored 15 points, while Hannah Mesick added 13 points.
