Big Third Period Lifts St. Norbert Past St. Thomas

DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored two third-period goals to snap a 2-2 tie after two periods to gain a 4-2 win over the University of St. Thomas in a non-conference game at the Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (10-2-1) took the lead at the 3:18 mark of the third period when Kurt Black finished near a battle around the net. St. Norbert doubled its lead at 9:09 when Rulevicius scored on a breakaway for his second goal of the game.

St. Norbert found itself down early when the Tommies (6-3-3) scored midway through the first period with a goal by Johnny Roisum at 10:17.

Action picked up in a hurry in the second period, with a St. Norbert power-play goal by Tanner Froese at the 3:29 mark to tie it up at 1-1. The Green Knights quickly followed with their second goal 27 seconds later to take a 2-1 lead thanks to Rulevicius' third goal of the season. St. Thomas answered with Charlie Donlin's goal at 11:18 of the frame to bring the score to 2-2 after two periods.

Rulevicius' two goals led to the only multi-point game for St. Norbert.

St. Norbert outshot St. Thomas 29-21. T.J. Black had 19 saves in net for the Green Knights, while Benjamin Myers had 25 saves the Tommies.

The Green Knights were 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Tommies were 0-for-3.
