Green Knights Avenge Loss to Lady Blues

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College took out its frustrations from a loss earlier this season to Illinois College with a 78-48 rout in a Midwest Conference game at UW-Green Bay's Phoenix Sports Center.

The Green Knights (8-4, 5-2 MWC) lost to the Lady Blues (8-4, 5-2) by a 76-69 score on Dec. 3, 2015 in Jacksonville, Ill. St. Norbert moved into a tie for third place with the win.

St. Norbert got off to a quick start, jumping out to a 15-2 lead in the first six minutes of the game. The Green Knights began with a 9-0 run, getting baskets from four different players to take early control. Brianna Byrne's 3-pointer at the end of the first period put the Green Knights ahead 24-10 after the first 10 minutes.

The Green Knights maintained a double-digit lead in the second quarter. The Lady Blues got to within 10 points twice, but St. Norbert scored on its next possession on both occasions. Sarah Ratajczyk's layup late in the second quarter gave St. Norbert a 42-27 lead at halftime.

St. Norbert pulled away in the second half, taking a 44-33 lead up to 67-33 with a 23-0 run that lasted the last 6:17 of the third quarter and the first 1:14 of the second quarter.

The Green Knights enjoyed a solid shooting night, canning 30 of their 63 field-goal attempts for a 47.6 percent clip. Ratajczyk and Jelena Ostojic led St. Norbert with 12 points apiece. The Green Knights also committed just 11 turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Blues 44-31.

Illinois College shot 33.3 percent from the floor, making 17 of 51 field-goal attempts. Brielle Greenleaf had 13 points and Carly Cameron 11 points to pace the Lady Blues.
