Green Knights Bounce Back to Top Knox

GREEN BAY - St. Norbert College looked to bounce back in Midwest Conference play against Knox College. While the Green Knights found themselves in a tight game early, they pulled away with a 15-2 run in the first half to eventually win 65-48 at Kress Events Center.

The Green Knights (12-3, 9-1 MWC), ranked No. 7 in the D3hoops.com Top 25, found themselves in a tight defensive affair early, but broke away from their Knox quickly. The Green Knights took over four minutes to score their first points, but quickly took command of the game with an early run and never let the Prairie Fire get close.

Halfway through the first half, St. Norbert was tied with Knox 8-8 but pulled away with a 15-2 run. The Green Knights had total command of the game at the end of the first half, leading 29-16.

Knox clawed back to within seven points of the Green Knights to start the second half, before layups by D.J. DeValk and Taylor Penn put the St. Norbert lead back in the double digits at 39-29. Mitchell Reinthaler swished a 3-point shot to punctuate a 9-2 St. Norbert run, putting the game essentially out of reach for the Prairie Fire at 48-31 with 9:50 remaining.

The Green Knights shot 53.1 percent (26-for-49) from the field. Reinthaler led the team with 17 points, while Penn had 13 and Tim Marshall 11 points.

Knox College shot 40 percent (18-for-45) from the field, with Deryk Ruple leading the Prairie Fire with nine points. DJ Lewis and Jonathan Damota had eight points apiece.
