DE PERE - St. Norbert College's men's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with a sound 82-68 Midwest Conference win over Monmouth College at Schuldes Sports Center.

The Green Knights, who are now 5-1 on the season, are off to their best start since 1995-96, when they started 6-1. Monmouth fell to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

St. Norbert trailed 5-3 in the very early going but went on a 17-0 run over a nearly eight-minute span to take a 20-5 lead with 9:48 to play before halftime. The Scots shot their way back into the game by making 8 of 13 3-pointers in the first half but St. Norbert still led 42-32 at the break thanks to a 17-for-19 showing at the free-throw line.

The Green Knights never led by less than 10 points in the second half. St. Norbert led 58-46 with 11:56 to go but the Green Knights gradually extended their advantage out to 74-51 with 7:37 left on a Bryan Fleischmann 3-pointer.

John Taylor scored a career-high for the second consecutive night, posting 19 points with 4 of 5 shooting on 3-pointers. Mike Dowden added 14 points, making 4 of 6 3-pointers, while Fleischmann added 12 points. The Green Knights shot 55 percent from the floor, making 22 of 40 shots. St. Norbert was 11-for-21 on 3-pointers and 27-for-31 at the free-throw line. St. Norbert had just nine turnovers in the game.

Monmouth's starting lineup scored a total of 10 points. Scott Ubbenga led the Scots with 12 points, while Robbie Hinkle added 11 and Alex Tanney, the MWC's reigning Offensive Player of the Year in football, had 10. Monmouth was 23-for-50 from the floor and was a white-hot 14-for-24 on 3-pointers, with several coming from well beyond the arc.
