St. Norbert Hosts Augsburg March 18 in NCAA Tournament Quarterfinal

DE PERE - St. Norbert College earned the No. 1 seeding in the West Region in the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Tournament and will host Augsburg College in a national quarterfinal game.

The Green Knights (21-5-1) and Auggies (17-4-6) both received a first-round bye in the 12-team tournament. The game will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the Cornerstone Community Center in De Pere. The winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four on March 24-25 at Utica Memorial Auditorium in Utica, N.Y.

This tournament appearance is St. Norbert's 17th, with the Green Knights also making appearances in 1997-99, 2002-08, 2010-14 and 2016. All first-round and quarterfinal-round games except for 1997 have come at home. The Green Knights are 27-12-1 all-time in the NCAA tournament and won the 2008, 2011, 2012 and 2014 national championships. St. Norbert is 18-3 in its last 21 NCAA Tournament games dating back to 2008.

Augsburg is making its fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The Auggies played in the tournament in 1984, 1998 and 2016. Augsburg is 3-5-1 all-time in the tournament and advanced to the Frozen Four in 1998.

St. Norbert and Augsburg met in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals last season, with the Green Knights claiming a 6-1 win over the Auggies on March 19, 2016 at Cornerstone Community Center in De Pere.
