Distance Medley Relay Reach All-America Status On Day 1

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - St. Norbert College's distance medley relay finished in sixth place to earn All-America honors on the first day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at North Central College's Res-Rec Hall.

The quartet of Brittany Kozlowski, Sarah Duff, Maddie LeBrun and Taylor Domro posted a time of 11:54.26 for their sixth-place finish. Washington University's relay won the national championship in the event with a time of 11:48.43.

Kozlowski put herself in strong contention for her first national championship by posting the top qualifying time for the final in the 800-meter run. Kozlowski turned in a time of 2:12.45 during her qualifying heat to finish 0.81 seconds ahead of the second-best time. The 800-meter final is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. Saturday and will have eight contestants.

Haley Joosten also competed in the 800-meter run, finishing 15th overall. Joosten finished with a time of 2:17.10.

Erin Artz just missed on All-America status in the 5,000-meter run. Artz finished with a time of 17:08.26, just two seconds out of finishing in the top eight. Ithaca College's Taryn Cordani won the national championship with a time of 16:28.15.

Artz will compete in Saturday's 3,000-meter run at 4 p.m.

Samantha Morateck will also compete Saturday in the high jump, with the event scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
