Green Knights Top Curry

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - St. Norbert College scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap a 4-4 tie and went on to post a 7-4 win over Curry College.

The Green Knights (3-2) scored three runs on four hits and one Curry error in the bottom of the seventh to pull ahead. Hunter Larson and Tyler Banovich singled after two out and nobody on. Sean Grant then followed with a booming two-run triple to push St. Norbert ahead. Griffin Jack drove in Grant with a double for a 7-4 advantage.

Curry scored one run in the top of the ninth inning and had the bases loaded but the Green Knights wiggled out of the jam to close out the win.

The Colonels scored a run in the top of the first inning but St. Norbert countered with an RBI single from Grant for a 1-1 tie. St. Norbert then scored twice in the third inning on a Banovich triple and an RBI groundout from Grant.

Curry tied the game at 3-3 with two runs in the fifth inning. St. Norbert scored a single run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Ray McDonald drove in Grant with a single. Curry retied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh.

Banovich went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Grant was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Jack was 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Derek Klegin was also 2-for-4. St. Norbert had 12 hits.

Nick Klavekoske earned the win with 2 1/2 innings of relief, allowing no eared runs on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. Starter Carson Jacques went 6 2/3 innings and scattered 11 hits while allowing four runs with no walks and seven strikeouts.
