St. Norbert Earns Split in Florida

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - St. Norbert College split a pair of games in Florida, falling to the University of Dubuque 6-4 before defeating Wheaton (Mass.) College 11-8.

St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead against Dubuque when Maria Reiter's single drove in Sydney Pfotenhauer. The Spartans answered with a six-run third inning.

The Green Knights chipped away, getting a pair of runs in the fifth inning. Brianna Braeger drove in a run with a groundout, followed by a Randi Morack RBI single. St. Norbert added a run in the seventh on a Dubuque error, but couldn't get closer.

Morack was 2-for-4 for St. Norbert. Emma Molenhouse took the loss, allowing 14 hits in the complete-game loss with three strikeouts.

Against Wheaton, St. Norbert scored runs in bunches to build a 10-2 lead and then held on for the victory.

St. Norbert scored two runs in the second inning on a Tia Danforth RBI single and a sacrifice fly by Ashley Zimmerman. The Lyons scored a run in the bottom of the second but the Green Knights responded with two more runs in the top of the third. Amanda Diedrich had an RBI groundout and Lexy Campshure a run-scoring single.

The Green Knights added two more runs in the fourth inning when Danforth stole home on the back end of a double steal and Braeger drove in a run on a groundout.

Wheaton scored a run in the bottom of the fourth before St. Norbert broke the game open with four runs on just one hit aided by two Lyons errors in the top of the fifth. Braeger had an RBI single in the inning.

Wheaton scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth before St. Norbert got a run back with a Leigh Grall run in the sixth. The Lyons added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings.

Braeger, Campshure and Danforth all had two hits apiece. Molenhouse got the win, allowing eight hits in five innings.
