WHITEWATER - St. Norbert College opened up the northern portion of its schedule with a doubleheader sweep of Carroll University by scores of 6-4 and 2-1 in non-conference games at UW-Whitewater's Prucha Field.

St. Norbert (7-4) erased a 1-0 deficit in the opener when it scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Griffin Jack scored on a throwing error, followed by a run-scoring double from Robbie Dombrowski to bring Ray McDonald around to score. Derek Klegin's RBI groundout then plated Jack Maastricht.

The Pioneers tied the game in the fourth with a pair of runs but St. Norbert retook the lead in the bottom of the inning when Sean Ferraro singled home McDonald. The Green Knights extended their lead in the seventh inning to 6-3 on a two-run single by Jack to score Hunter Larson and Tyler Banovich. Carroll would get a single run in the ninth.

St. Norbert had 12 hits, getting two apiece from Klegin, Larson, Jack, McDonald and Ferraro.

Jake McMahon improved to 3-0 on the season by going seven innings, allowing nine hits for three runs with two walks and two strikeouts. Blake Rutherford earned a two-inning save, allowing four hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

In the nightcap, Carroll scored an unearned run in the fifth inning. The Pioneers would hold a 1-0 lead until St. Norbert would score single runs in each of the last two frames to steal the win.

Ferraro squeezed in Jack to tie the game at 1-1 in the top of the eighth inning. With two outs and nobody on in the ninth, Banovich singled and stole second. Sean Grant singled in Banovich for a 2-1 lead.

Jason Malkowski picked up the complete-game win for the Green Knights, allowing just six hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
