DE PERE - St. Norbert College used a five-run fifth inning as the impetus to a 6-1 win over Lakeland College in a non-conference game at Larry Van Alstine Field at the Mel Nicks Sports Complex.

The Green Knights (8-4) broke a 1-1 tie by plating five runs on two hits in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Andy Peterik led off the inning with a triple. Following a shallow flyout, Hunter Larson and Tyler Banovich walked. Sean Grant was hit by a pitch to bring Peterik home. Griffin Jack then hit a groundball to shortstop, but the throw to second base went wide to score two runs. Jason Malkowski walked and Jacob Raeder followed with a two-run single through the right side to give the Green Knights a 6-1 lead.

Lakeland (3-7) scored in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Connor Hilburn. The Muskies then loaded the bases with nobody out, but St. Norbert pitcher Carson Jacques wiggled out of the jam with no further damage.

St. Norbert answered with a run in its half of the fourth inning. Banovich doubled and went to third base on Grant's fly to right. Jack then singled to left-center field to equal the score 1-1.

The Green Knights totaled five hits, with Banovich going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Jacques earned the win for St. Norbert, allowing five hits with no walks and four strikeouts in three relief innings. Tyler Rouze started and worked three innings, yielding only a hit batsman with two strikeouts.
