KENOSHA - St. Norbert College salvaged a split with Carthage College in a non-conference doubleheader at Carthage Softball Field.

The Green Knights lost the opener 5-0 before bouncing back to take the nightcap 6-4.

Carthage took a 2-0 lead with a pair of second-inning runs in the second game before St. Norbert answered with three runs in the top of the third. Leigh Grall stroked a two-run double to score Ashley Schuettpelz and Brianna Braeger. Tia Danforth followed with a double to bring Grall around for a 3-2 lead.

The Lady Reds scored a run in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 3-3 but St. Norbert got the run back in the fourth inning when Lexy Campshure scored on a passed ball.

Carthage again retied the game with a run in the bottom of the fourth before the Green Knights took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning on an Amanda Diedrich two-run home run.

The Lady Reds would load the bases with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't extend the inning.

St. Norbert had 10 hits, with Danforth, Diedrich and Carley Frauenhoff each collecting two apiece. Diedrich also had a triple in addition to her home run.

Emma Molenhouse picked up the complete-game win, allowing eight hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts. She coaxed Carthage into stranding 11 baserunners.

In the opener, Carthage took control with four unearned runs in the first inning and added a single run in the third inning to account for the scoring.

The Green Knights finished with four hits. Sydney Pfotenhauer took the loss, allowing seven hits and one earned run in six innings pitched.
