STEVENS POINT - St. Norbert College senior Jake McMahon twirled a complete-game shutout to lead the Green Knights to a non-conference doubleheader split with UW-Stevens Point. The Green Knights won the opener 8-0 before dropping the nightcap 4-1 at University Field.

The Green Knights (16-8) cruised to the win in the opener behind McMahon, who allowed just six hits in the victory. McMahon did not walk a batter and struck out two. He did not allow Stevens Point to advance a runner to third base.

St. Norbert would give its ace all the scoring it would need with four runs in the top of the first inning. Jason Malkowski walked with the bases loaded to force in the game's first run. Sean Grant then grounded out to drive in Tyler Banovich. Robbie Dombrowski's two-run single brought home Griffin Jack and Malkowski for a 4-0 edge.

The Green Knights added a run in the second inning on Banovich's sacrifice fly. St. Norbert scored twice in the fourth inning on a pair of errors and a sacrifice fly by Grant. St. Norbert would score its last run in the seventh inning when Derek Klegin's single scored Andy Peterik.

Banovich was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, while Ray McDonald was 2-for-3. Larson was 2-for-5.

In the nightcap, St. Norbert had just two hits against three Stevens Point pitchers and committed five errors defensively.

Jacob Raeder's double in the top of the second inning scored Jack to tie the game at 1-1, but the Pointers would score single unearned runs in the third, fifth and eighth innings to pull away.

Carson Jacques took the tough-luck loss, allowing one earned run in seven-plus innings pitched. He yielded four hits with two walks and one strikeout.
