Zanotti, Oleniczak Finish Runner-Up at MWC Doubles Championship

MADISON - John Zanotti and Joe Oleniczak finished as the runner-up at No. 3 doubles at the Midwest Conference Doubles Championship at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Zanotti and Oleniczak fell to Grinnell College's Will Hamilton and Ben Cobin 8-1 in the championship match. The duo topped Lawrence University's Cade Francour and Aidan Delgado 8-5 in the semifinals and Illinois College's T.J. Lawal and Collin Walter 8-1 in the quarterfinals.

Alex Vandenberg and Zach Simonet advanced to the consolation championship at No. 2, falling to Lawrence's David Brooker and Connor Maloney in a hard-fought 9-7 decision. The tandem beat Knox College's Ganesh Uppalapu and Jeffrey Xue 8-0 in the consolation semifinals after falling to Cornell College's Nick Van Den Handel and Tucker Barnes 8-1 in the quarterfinals.

Ben Vande Zande and Brady Hicks advanced to the semifinals at No. 1 before succumbing 8-5 to Grinnell's Cole Miller and Tommy Pitcher. The pairing topped Lawrence's David Jumes and Bill Schumann-Kline 8-6 in the quarterfinals.
