St. Norbert Finishes Tied for 31st at NCAA Championship

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - St. Norbert College finished in a tie for 31st place out of 42 teams at the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort.

The team finish was the best ever for the Green Knights, who were making their third NCAA Championship appearance in five years. St. Norbert finished 37th in 2015 and tied for 34th in 2013.

The Green Knights shot a 326 on the second day to fall three positions in the team standings. St. Norbert finished with a 321-326--647 to finish in a tie with Carnegie Mellon University. The top 18 teams plus six individuals not on an advancing team advance to the final two rounds. Huntington College is the leader after two days with a team score of 584.

Luke Bourneuf shot a 79 on the second day, finishing with a total of 153 after his first-day total of 74. He finished in a tie for 49th place out of 215 total contestants. He finished three strokes out of a playoff for the final individuals to make the cut into the final two rounds.

Joe Scherer had the best Day 2 score with a 78, finishing with a score of 82-78--160. Ben Bobinski finished with an 81 to total 80-81--161.

Eric Bagg finished with an overall score of 85-88--173, while Tony Arnold totaled an 87-90--177.
