Green Knights Top Blueboys in MWC Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - St. Norbert College began Midwest Conference play with a 4-0 win over Illinois College at Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.

The Green Knights (4-3-1, 1-0 MWC) scored two goals in each half to take control against the Blueboys (4-5, 0-1).

Sean Sladky gave St. Norbert the early lead when he scored unassisted on a blast from about 25 yards out at the 4:38 mark. The Green Knights pushed ahead 2-0 when Ben Prange scored off a Robert Quinlan assist at 26:01.

Prange improved his team-high season goal total to seven when he converted on a header off a feed from Kieran Ruane at 59:13. Seth Boldt then scored his third goal of the season when his strike was good from about 15 yards out at 71:16. Ryan Hansen assisted on the goal.

St. Norbert outshot Illinois College 18-6 and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks. Josh Koleske made three saves for St. Norbert, while Matt Pilewski did not see a shot in almost 19 minutes of relief.
