DE PERE - St. Norbert College scored all of its goals in the third period en route to a 3-0 win over Trine University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.

The Green Knights (3-0, 3-0 NCHA), ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com and No. 2 in the D3hockey.com polls, remained unbeaten heading into a key early-season against Adrian College at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Cornerstone. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 2 by USCHO.com and No. 1 by D3hockey.com.

Neither team could generate many scoring chances in the first two periods. Each team had a power-play opportunity in the first period, but would remain at even-strength until 20 seconds remained in the second period.

Trine's Logan Hudson was called for slashing, and the Green Knights would convert early in the third period. Peter Bates scored his first collegiate goal off a pretty tic-tac-toe passing combination set up by Dominic Sacco and Tanner Froese just 56 seconds into the last stanza.

St. Norbert would cushion its lead when Brad Pung scored his third goal of the season at the 2:43 mark. The Green Knights scored another power-play goal with 1:29 left when Roman Uchyn scored for the second time this season.

Bates added an assist for the only multi-point game of the night for the Green Knights.

St. Norbert outshot Trine 39-22. T.J. Black turned away all 22 shots he faced for his ninth career shutout. Brett Young made 36 stops for the Thunder.

The Green Knights were 2-for-4 on the power play, while the Thunder was 0-for-4.
