DE PERE - St. Norbert College had two big stretches where its penalty kill held strong, leading to a 1-1 overtime tie with College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Resch Olympic Pavilion.

The Green Knights (4-3-2, 4-1-2 NCHA) successfully killed off a 5-on-3 disadvantage midway through the first period, and then later killed off four minutes of St. Scholastica power plays in overtime.

St. Norbert killed off its first two penalties in the first period, but St. Scholastica's Brandi Malwitz scored a power-play goal at 16:56 of the period for a 1-0 lead.

Lexi Pyykkonen scored unassisted at 5:21 of the second period, and that score would hold up as the game-tying marker.

The Green Knights were cited for an interference penalty as time expired in regulation time, and then got whistled for a checking penalty at 2:42 of overtime, but St. Norbert kept the Saints off the scoreboard to finish in the stalemate.

St. Scholastica outshot St. Norbert 28-21. The Saints were 1-for-7 on the power play, while St. Norbert was 0-for-3.

Leigh Grall made 27 saves for the Green Knights, while Lori Huseby made 20 stops for St. Scholastica.
