Green Knight Thinclads Open Season at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE - St. Norbert College's men's track and field season got underway for the 2009 campaign with a trip to the Chippewa Valley and the Blugold Open at UW-Eau Claire.

The Green Knights were third out of five teams with 49.5 points. Eau Claire won the meet with 233 points, while St. Thomas was second with 214.5 points.

St. Norbert shined in the field events, which is where most of its scoring occurred. Dann Schneider was second in the long jump at 6.28 meters, while Brent Schreiber was fourth in the triple jump at 11.81 meters. Paul Leeman tied for third in the high jump with a leap of 1.87 meters, while Jordan Gobert was fourth in the pole vault clearing 3.78 meters. Bret Blozinski placed in two throwing events, finishing fifth in the shot put at 12.50 meters and seventh in the weight throw at 12.28 meters.

Mackenzie Laska was fifth in the 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 9:29.15. Ryan Ascher was eighth in the 400-meter run to crack the scoring column with a jaunt of 55.59 seconds.

St. Norbert's 4x200-meter relay team was third with a time of 1:40.20. The Green Knights were seventh in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:43.50.
