APPLETON - St. Norbert College's defense carried the day as the Green Knights took a 66-21 win over Lawrence University in a Midwest Conference game at Alexander Gym.

The 21 points allowed marked the best defensive effort for the Green Knights since a 107-21 win over Northland College on Nov. 15, 2013 in De Pere.

St. Norbert took a while to get started, leading 12-4 after the first quarter. The Green Knights opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to take firm control. Sarah Neumann and Hayley Winzenried began the period with layups, while Liz Edinger added a free throw. Sarah Wiseman scored a basket and later added a free throw, and Neumann's basket with 5:44 left in the second quarter gave St. Norbert a 22-4 lead. The Green Knights settled on a 29-12 edge at halftime.

Lawrence scored the first basket of the third quarter, but St. Norbert then went on an 11-0 run. Sara Winkel started the spurt with a conventional three-point play. Edinger's 3-pointer with 6:12 left in the quarter finished the run and gave the Green Knights a 40-14 edge.

Neumann finished with a double-double, leading the Green Knights with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Wiseman added 15 points, while Edinger added 12 points. The Green Knights shot 43.3 percent (26-for-60) from the floor.

Lawrence shot 15.2 percent (7-for-46) from the floor. Olivia Hoesley led the Vikings with seven points.
