Pyykkonen's Overtime Goal Lifts St. Norbert To Series Sweep

FOND DU LAC - St. Norbert College picked up a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association series sweep of Marian University with a 3-2 win thanks to Lexi Pyykkonen's overtime goal.

The Green Knights (6-8-3, 6-2-2 NCHA) gained their first overtime win in nearly two years, last winning in overtime with a 3-2 win over College of St. Scholastica on Jan. 22, 2016. St. Norbert last won in overtime on the road on Nov. 28, 2015 by a 3-2 score at St. Mary's University.

St. Norbert scored all three of its goals on the power play. Marian's Ally Fox was cited for interference at the 1:59 mark of overtime. Pyykkonen followed with the game-winning goal at 2:51 off assists from Natasha Smith and Kelli Sorge.

The Green Knights drew first blood with a power-play goal from Jessica Schlaff at 9:56 of the first period. Marian countered with a pair of goals by Megan Cook at 11:07 and Morgan Bolin at 18:15 for a 2-1 lead.

St. Norbert would pull back to even at 5:04 of the second period on an unassisted power-play goal by Jessica Sherman.

Leigh Grall made 13 saves for the Green Knights, who outshot the Sabres 30-15. Lindsey Strainis made 27 stops for Marian.

The Green Knights were 3-for-8 on the power play, while the Sabres were 0-for-2.
