St. Norbert Falls Short at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College found itself looking at an early deficit for the second consecutive night and consequently lost for the second consecutive game with a 4-3 defeat at the hands of College of St. Scholastica in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association at Mars Lakeview Arena.

St. Scholastica, which has won its last 10 straight games, scored a pair of goals in the first eight minutes of the game, getting scores from Cole Golka at 5:54 and Kyle Star at 7:35 for a 2-0 edge.

St. Norbert (15-3-1, 10-2 NCHA) countered with a goal from Peter Bates at 9:53 of the second period to trail 2-1 after 40 minutes.

The Saints would respond with a pair of goals from Parker Mishmash early in the third period at 4:08 and 8:29, the latter a power-play goal, for a 4-1 lead. St. Norbert would get a goal back when Bates scored at 13:25 for his second goal of the game. Steven Phillips pulled the Green Knights to within one with a goal at 18:22.

St. Norbert would get an extra attacker on the ice with 1:23 remaining, and had a 6-on-4 power-play chance with 12 seconds to go, but couldn't tie the game.

St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 30-21. T.J. Black made 17 saves for the Green Knights, while Forbes Ploszaj made 27 stops for the Saints.

The Green Knights were 0-for-3 on the power play, while the Saints were 1-for-3.
