St. Norbert Salvages Tie at Northland

ASHLAND - St. Norbert College had to rally from a two-goal deficit to gain a 4-4 tie with Northland College in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Bay Area Civic Center.

The Green Knights (8-13-4, 8-6-3 NCHA) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first period. Selena Stromer scored an unassisted goal at 7:39, while Lisa Lenell followed with a goal at 15:13.

The Lumberjills would roar back with four consecutive goals. Allyson Reilly scored a power-play goal just nine second into the second period, while Bridget Allex followed with a goal at 6:22. Reilly scored her second power-play goal at 8:39, and Robyn Matula finished off the outburst with a goal at 10:05 for a 4-2 edge. St. Norbert would get a goal back before the end of the second period on a Lexi Pyykkonen power-play goal at 14:13 to bring the Green Knights to within 4-3.

Jessica Schlaff tied the game with an unassisted goal at 6:08 of the third period. The Green Knights had two power-play chances later in the third period but couldn't capitalize.

St. Norbert outshot Northland 4-0 in overtime and 33-21 for the game. Northland was 2-for-4 on the power play and St. Norbert was 1-for-4.

Pyykkonen and Schlaff each had assists to give them both a two-point game.

Leigh Grall made 11 saves and Brianna Kelly six saves for the Green Knights. Maggie Cusey had 29 stops for the Lumberjills.
